Hey my little sick man!
It sure has been a crazy week. We found out last Tuesday that you have pneumonia. Can you believe it? I am not completely sure where you got this sickness, but I know we don’t like it. On Sunday evening you started to have a slight fever which we tried to treat with some of the usual Tylenol and Ibuprofen, but it never really seemed to take away the fever. You did not go to school on Monday or Tuesday because you still had your fever and no matter what I did I could not get it to go below 101 degrees. Before you laid down for your nap you asked me to take you to the doctor which you never do, so I called dad to see if his friend Dr. Richard Russell could see you. Of course Richard said that we could come in the back door and he would look you over. You really did not act like you had pneumonia except for the slight fact you had a fever that would not go away and a little cough. We came in and you fever was 101.5, and they did some other test and decided to do a chest ex-ray. Guess what they found pneumonia in the top part of your right lung. It wasn’t a huge area, but it would have probably grown if we didn’t get it taken care of. I am very thankful you asked to go to the doctor and that I listened to the promptings to take you. The spirit works in man y ways even when it comes from a 3 year old. Remember that with your own children.
Dr. Russell gave you a shot of an antibiotic to directly affect the pneumonia and start the healing process. Then he also prescribed an antibiotic for you to take at home. You were a tough guy when you got the shot, but definitely not happy about it. You told me you never want a shot again, and I wish I could have told you okay, but unfortunately there are more to come.
For the next few days you, Abby, and me stayed home and watched various movies to keep you occupied and not moving so you could get better. You were one sick little boy for the next few days, so I am so glad we had you antibiotics. Some of the movies you enjoyed were Disney’s Bolt, Mary Poppins, Alvin and the Chipmunks – Trick or Treason, and you also liked Disney’s Bed knobs and broom sticks.
Cole you are such a sweet trooper though. You really have been a fighter through this whole sickness. You are sill bubbly and sweet and caring. Tonight when I laid by you before you fell asleep and you asked me as I was lying by you if I was comfortable and had enough pillow. Cole I love how much you are considerate of others and their feelings. I love you more than words could ever describe little man.
Love,
Mom
